Random Firings of Neurons

The rest of your life is going to be spent getting back up after life has knocked you down again. You might as well just get used to it.

How....interesting.

Talked to a doctor today about my hand.

Is it a bad thing when the doctor says "I can't do anything for you. Sorry. Here are the phone numbers to some neurologists who might be able to help."?

Thought so.

Okay, here's the deal....

Grr. Still don't have full use of my hand. My hand doesn't hurt, nor does any other place, to let me know where the pinched nerve might be. My hand is just....numb. And, since there aren't any signals getting through to that part of my hand, it is also partially paralyzed.

I haven't been putting posts up, like I promised, because, well, forcing my hand to type properly IS possible, but, puts a lot of strain on the muscles that aren't shirking their duties....meaning, I get rather nasty cramps in my hand after about....one minute...of typing. One minute?! I can barely say "Hello! How are you?" in less than a minute! (those of you who have met me in the real world will get that joke...)

So, here's the deal. The doctor I saw *mumblemumble* weeks ago told me that these things usually clear up in about a month. It hasn't. She told me to take a pain killer, to reduce any swelling that might be causing the pinch, and the pain killer she told me to take did diddly-poo. So, I'm taking my old tried-and-true obsene quantities of ibuprofen, to take care of this. IF this doesn't work in a week, I'll go see the doctor, and have a lot of tests run....which I have to pay for out of my own pocket.

Last time I checked, getting ONE x-ray cost about.....$300?

Oh, well. I've been in debt up to my eyeballs before. Might as well do it again. I'm almost used to it, by now.

Promises, promises.

Today, I WILL get my After-Action Reports up. They won't be as good as they should be, because too much time has elapsed, but, I'll hit the highlights.

My hand WILL perform the duties that it is required to do. I haven't given it any other option.

I do have a pretty good idea of what is causing the problem, where it is located, and how to fix it, though. A little time, and money, and a touch of effort and patience should do the trick. Much cheaper than going to a doctor, who will probably tell me to do the same darn thing I'm going to do.

Oh, well. After I run some errands, I'll start putting stuff up.

Still not doing what it is supposed to be doing

Again, sorry for the light posting. Through some unintentional diagnostic work, it appears that I have some swelling somewhere in either my elbow or upper arm that is pinching the nerve, preventing me from using my left hand properly.

Some days, it's almost bearable. Other days, like today, I almost want to cut my hand off, since it is almost that useful anyway.

If it doesn't get better in the next couple of days, I'll put some posts up anyway. I've been making my hand do things it's not supposed to do for the past two weeks anyway. I can make it type correctly.

Oh, This Is Rich....

The temperature is over 100 here, right now.

I have been informed that I am, possibly, the ONLY soul in Texas who is actually HAPPY about this.

You see, we are getting a wind out of the south east, meaning the wind is blowing in off of the Gulf of Mexico. That wind is dragging the humidity up, with all the moisture from that really big body of water. (It's even bigger than Texas! Honest!)

So, what exactly is this horrid humidity that is being caused by the South Eastern wind?

28%.

Twenty. Eight. Percent.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Good Lord above, I love this state.
